LAKEWOOD – “Burritos That Bite Back” is the slogan for the new street vending business in Lakewood serving Mexican-style food.

MexiCali Burrito Co. LLC is the name of the business that will be serving food at 349 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, in the former location of The Bagel Company. The business will operate from this location from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, except when catering special events.

Mary Beth Calzone is the owner and Marc Calzone is the chef. When they are not serving Mexican food in Lakewood, they will be catering events which provide all types of cuisine. The business will cater to birthday parties, anniversaries and any special event.

For example, this weekend they are at Steven Brothers in Panama to provide food to area hunters. To check on availability, visit MexiCali Burrito Co.’s website at www.mexicaliburritos.com or its Facebook page. For more information or to place a pick up order, call 640-8100.

Ms. Calzone said MexiCali Burrito Co., will utilize its mobile kitchen to serve the southern Chautauqua area. Their objective is to reach out to the community through social networking to provide real-time locations and times of service.

“There is nothing like this around here,” Marc Calzone said. “We wanted to bring a taste of the West to town.”

Calzone is a graduate of the Orlando Culinary Academy. He has always had a passion for preparing food.

“It is one thing to make it and enjoy it yourself. It is even better to cook and share it with others,” he said.

MexiCali Burrito Co. will be providing a Black Friday promotion to hungry shoppers. Ms. Calzone said, starting at 5 a.m., the first 50 customers will receive a free burrito. She said there will also be other giveaways throughout the day. Customers who purchase nine burritos can get the 10th one free.

Also, the company will be selling candy, with proceeds going to benefit local food banks.

“It is important to give back to the community,” Ms. Calzone said.
