<div id="attachment_16365" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 510px"><a href="http://www.MobileFoodNews.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Nicks-Wheely-Good.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-16365" title="Nick's Wheely Good" src="http://www.MobileFoodNews.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Nicks-Wheely-Good.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="374" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">After permit delays in San Francisco, Nick Bernard steered his eakfast truck to the East Bay. Deagon B. Williams via Nick&#39;s Wheely Good/Facebook</p></div>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The latest new-school mobile vendor to roll out of the East Bay is slinging pancakes and fried egg sandwiches. Alameda-based <strong><a href="http://nicksbreakfasttruck.com/index.php">Nick’s Wheely Good Breakfast Truck</a></strong> pulled up to a soft launch in Emeryville last week. On Sunday, the truck debuted a regular slot out front of Berkeley’s <strong><a href="http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=wall&amp;gid=75305481039#%21/group.php?gid=75305481039&amp;v=wall">Acme Bar</a></strong>, helping the Bloody Mary and Ramos fizz regulars get something solid in their stomachs.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><a name="more"></a>Twenty-two-year-old owner <strong>Nick Bernard</strong> — kitchen veteran of San Francisco’s <strong><a href="https://www.anchorandhopesf.com/flash/">Anchor &amp; Hope</a></strong> and San Rafael’s <strong><a href="http://www.sage-catering.com/">Sage Catering</a></strong> — worked for eight months to get Nick’s Wheely on the street after having a mini epiphany about the absence of an all-hours breakfast truck in the Bay Area. His initial plan: Roll it out in San Francisco, except the permit process there sort of kicked his ass.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Earlier this year, Bernard applied with S.F.’s Department of Public Works for five spots (two near AT&amp;T Park, two in Potrero Hill, one in the Embarcadero), but the glacial pace of the approval process made him rethink. “I got redirected to the East Bay,” Bernard told What the Fork.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Only problem with a breakfast truck, most food truck traffic happens at lunch, or at night. So till he can attract regulars lining up for oatmeal or triple layer French toast before work, Bernard’s hitting Emeryville for the lunch trade — he’ll be at 62nd and Hollis Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. He&#8217;s also slated to appear at <strong><a href="http://www.eastbayexpress.com/WhatTheFork/archives/2011/06/13/bites-on-broadway-long-lines-and-a-last-minute-change">Bites on Broadway</a></strong> in Oakland Friday night, and he&#8217;s trying to secure a slot at <strong><a href="http://www.eastbayexpress.com/ebx/off-the-grid-coming-to-north-berkeley/Content?oid=2665525">Off the Grid North Berkeley</a></strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">You can check out the Nick’s Wheely menu <a href="http://nicksbreakfasttruck.com/menu.php">online</a>: pork belly sandwich, cheddar buttermilk-biscuit sandwich, a Cuban, blueberry muffins Bernard makes himself, and <a href="http://twitter.com/#%21/NicksBreakfast">follow on Twitter</a> to track the truck’s movements.</p>
