Great Food Truck Race Executive Gives Us Season 2 Scoop
Orange County-based food trucks, Seabirds and The Lime Truck, are among eight food trucks competing in Season 2 of the Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race. (Related story: Seabirds and The Lime Truck to host premiere party Sunday in Costa Mesa)
In the show, competitors try to outsell each other in various cities while getting hit with tough challenges. In one show, truck owners are forced to make food without propane to power their grills and cooktops.
The ultimate champion earns a $100,000 grand prize. (Last year, the prize — which went to Los Angeles-based Grill ‘Em All — was $50,000.)
Other trucks competing this year include Café Con Leche (Los Angeles), Devilicious (San Diego), Sky’s Gourmet Tacos (Los Angeles), Hodge Podge (Cleveland, Ohio), Roxy’s Grilled Cheese (Boston) and Korilla BBQ (New York).
Earlier this week, I asked producers of the show to talk about Season 2 challenges, including how they reacted when food truck fans began tweeting live coverage of the show as it was being taped this spring.
Here’s what Brian Lando, vice president of programming and special events, told the Register via email:
